MORE than 11,000 people have registered for the Public Service Commission’s (PSC) job portal since it went live in February this year.
PSC Executive Officer Norefna Abdullah said out of the 11,084 people who registered, 4,140 are civil servants and the rest are fresh graduates or the unemployed.
In an interview on the sidelines of an e-services clinic at the Ministry of Education yesterday, she said that as of this month 11,084 people are registered for the job portal.
She did not disclose the number of people who applied for jobs and were hired through the portal.
The increase in the number of people who are registered with the online recruitment system was also reflected in the rise of e-Darussalam accounts recorded by the E-Government National Centre (EGNC).
Sabaria Ajak, systems analyst at EGNC, said 37,180 e-Darussalam accounts have been recorded as of May 31, compared to over 22,000 users when the PSC recruitment system was launched in March.
She added that other services such as the Labour Control System (LCS) and road tax renewal had also attracted more people to open up an e-Darussalam account.
Earlier this month, it was reported that the government planned to include all its public services under the e-Darussalam portal.
During the e-clinic briefing, Mohammad Rouhan Hj Hassan, also a PCS executive officer, said the job portal has recently undergone some improvements including the inclusion of the mandatory “district” section to be filled by applicants before submitting their forms.
He said the system is in its second phase, where the commission is looking to provide a better workflow in processing applicants’ submissions.
More than 200 education officers attended the clinic. Over 20 of them were appointed as points of contact (PoC) by their departments and schools.
MoE officials and staff who applied for a vacant post can submit their applications to the PoC to start the internal process of recommendations and approval by heads of department.
