IT Central Procurement involves the procurement of IT equipments by the Government either through outright purchase or leasing, starting from the acquisition and management of IT equipments up to phasing out of these IT equipments.
Each ministry and department will be responsible for the planning and procurement of their IT equipments requirements through their respective IS/IT Plans using their own budget, which may be obtained through the annual departmental budget for ad hoc requirements or from the National Development Fund for e-government projects.
IT equipments are categorised as desktop PCs, notebooks, tablet PCs, printers and scanners.
OBJECTIVES
· To standardise the procurement and usage of all IT equipments within the Government.
· To provide common services for Government IT desktop equipments.
· To provide better management of Government IT desktop equipments.
ROLES
01 Processing of requests from ministries and departments with regards to IT equipments such as lease of IT equipments for events such as meetings and seminars, purchase of leased desktop PCs and notebooks after the lease period has expired under the Information Technology and State Stores department leasing contract, and request for approval to procure IT equipments using their own department budget.
02 Processing of complaints from ministries and departments with regards to IT equipments. Currently EGNC only caters for IT equipments supplied by the Information Technology and State Stores Department.
03 Centrally manage the contracts with regards to IT equipments such as maintenance contract for existing e-government projects.
04 Phasing out services involves performing technical inspections and preparing technical inspection reports for the writing-off of Government assets with regards to IT equipments. The writing-off will be handled by LPT Support Services Division, Information Technology and State Stores Department.
